Envelope Purse 1952 Free Vintage Crochet Pattern
Envelope Purse 1952 Free Vintage Crochet Pattern is lined and has a zipper sewn in. Another one from the old books from Grandma. Feel free to substitute materials to what's available now a days.
Materials: Clark’s O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 8 balls of any color
Size 7 steel crochet hook
1/4 yard of crinoline
1/4 yard of lining material
9-inch Crown Zipper
Starting at the top (inside of purse) make a chain about 9 inches long. 1st row: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (3 dc, counting the turning chain as 1 dc). * skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch (a shell). Repeat from * across, ending row with skip 2 ch, sc in last ch. Ch 3 turn. 2nd row: 2 dc in last sc made in previous row. * skip 2 dc of next chell, sc in next dc, 5 dc in next sc. Repeat from * across ending row with sc between last dc of half shell and turning ch. Ch 3 turn. Remaining Rows: Repeat the second row until piece measures 13 1/2 inches in all. Fashen off. Lay the crocheted piece on top of the crinoline and cut around. Baste or sew the crinoline to the crocheted piece. Sew one side of the zipper across one short end of the crinoline side. Cut a piece of lining slightly larger than the crocheted piece and place over crinoline. Fold into an envelope shape wrong side out and sew sides neatly. Turn to right side, open the zipper and sew in place.
Button Loop: Ch 13, turn. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. Sew ends of this chain at center of flap to make a loop for button. Sew on button to correspond with button loop.
